Pierce follows signs of otherworldly activity to an unexpected meeting as the Cabal's operatives move through Royal City on unknown orders. Tracking a disquieting phenomenon to a farm equipment store, he quickly finds himself in hot water.

Meanwhile, Mitch is faced with a conundrum: How does one confront a god on its home ground, armed with nothing but courage and a baseball bat?

Our operatives regroup at the Braddock house to say their goodbyes as Pierce and Mitch are recalled to Chicago. Meanwhile, Kiera has unlikely and welcome visitors.

Weeks later, Diana contacts Mitch, revealing that she knows more about the cell's off-books resources than expected. The cell convenes for a secretive meeting, and are told the story of an old, old disaster.

The opportunity arises for Pierce to undermine the magickal working that Koji uses to restrain and erode Darren Feldman's power as the two of them prepare for their delicate -- and mystically complex -- infiltration of the Chester Mental Health Center. While they hope to glean some of Doctor Howarth's secrets and learn more of his organization, with Pierce ironically unaware that he's voluntarily forgotten much of what they might discover.

Meanwhile, Mitch and Kiera make contact with Doctor Howarth, attempting to establish common ground and earn his trust, learning of a specialized task that, should they risk it, would go a long way to proving their worth.
